Boeing Gets $16.5 Million Federal Contract for Hazelwood Defense Facility
The Department of Defense awarded 18 contracts Wednesday for $870 million. Boeing won 17 percent of those contracts.
The Department of Defense has awarded The Boeing Co. a $16.5 million contract to repair AV-8 Harrier aircraft parts for the U.S. Marine Corps.
The work will be performed in St. Louis and is expected to start Oct. 10 and last until Sept. 30, 2015, according to Stephanie Bass, communications specialist at Boeing.
No new jobs will be created for the contract, rather about 60 workers at the Hazelwood defense facility are part of the Harrier team.

This comes just after Boeing confirmed it would lay off 300 workers in St. Louis starting in early 2014, as part of its decision to end production of its C-17 military cargo planes.
