First Bank Helps Keep St. Louisans Cool This Summer

Employees donate 50 new air conditioners to non-profit EnergyCare

With summer starting to sizzle, First Bank employees raised $5,663 and donated 50 new air conditioners to EnergyCare, a non-profit organization located in St. Louis. The donation took place on Monday, June 27 at First Bank’s Operation Center in Hazelwood, Missouri.

“I cannot thank our employees enough for their generous donations,” said Ed Furman, First Bank Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer who organized the employee effort with First Banks, Inc. matching their funds. “Their spirited contributions will help keep many people cool and safe this summer.”

Helping Furman load the air conditioners onto the van was EnergyCare Executive Director Tim O’Dea along with David Kennebrew, a service provider for the agency.

Since 1999, First Bank employees have donated 754 AC units to EnergyCare for a total value of $76,000. Combined with First Bank’s blanket drives in the winter, First Bank has donated $133,000 to EnergyCare to help the area’s at-risk population.

EnergyCare www.energycare.org relies on generous donations to help keep low-income, homebound and medically-at-risk people safe. EnergyCare provides energy-related services and information for the low-income elderly, ill, disabled and families with young children in St. Louis City and County. Donations are tax deductible.
