Former Lambert Airport Worker Pleads Guilty to Terrorist Threat of a Mass Shooting

A ground services worker at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport pleaded guilty Friday to making a terrorist threat against co-workers.

William Cox, 41, of the 1500 block of Wallis Avenue in Overland, threatened "a mass shooting" of co-workers at JetStream Ground Services during his lunch break March 27 at the airport. Cox worked for JetStream ground services, a Delta Airlines subcontractor.

Several other Jet Stream employees heard Cox make the threat in a break room, according to a court document. Lambert-St. Louis Airport spokesman Jeff Lee said the threat was reported to the St. Louis Airport Police Department, who “responded appropriately.”

Cox also pleaded guilty to one count of identity theft March 19, 2011 in St. Ann in an unrelated case.

The prosecuting attorney’s office recommended sentencing Cox to five years in prison but also recommended suspending the sentence and placing him on probation.

St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Thomas J. Prebil is scheduled to sentence Cox May 3.
