Police Dispatcher Arrested On Suspicion Of Felony Theft

Hazelwood dispatcher claims to have raised $75,000 for an injured officer. But the officer hasn't seen any of that money.

HAZELWOOD, MO — Police dispatcher April Briscuso was arrested this week, after authorities say she stole an undisclosed amount of money meant for an injured officer. Officer Craig Tudor was involved in a car crash earlier this year that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Briscuso told the Post-Dispatch she has raised more than $75,000 for Tudor, but the officer's family said they had received only a fraction of that amount.

Hazelwood Police Chief Gregg Hall said he could not comment on the specifics of the ongoing investigation, so it’s unclear how much money police believe the Tudor family has not received. The arrest was on suspicion of a class D felony, meaning at least $750 taken. The next most serious charge would be a class C felony, a theft of $25,000 or more.

Briscuso told the Post-Dispatch on Facebook, "I got desperate on my bills and used some money but had every intention on payin' him back." She has not yet been charged, and it's not clear if Tudor will press charges if she repays the money.
