Southeast Middle In Hazelwood School District Under Lockdown
Southeast Middle School is on lockdown after an armed suspect attempted a carjacking in the parking lot, then fled on foot.

HAZELWOOD, MO — St. Louis County Police say an armed suspect attempted a carjacking in the parking lot of Southeast Middle School in the Hazelwood School District around 10 a.m. Monday morning. The school is currently on lockdown, after police say the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The school's principal, Chauncey Granger, sent out a message by email alerting parents of the situation. "This message is to inform you that our building is currently on lockdown. This measure has been taken to ensure that all students and staff remain safe. There was an incident that occurred outside our building on school grounds a short time ago. We immediately called the St. Louis County Police and they are on the scene. Our school administrators and our safety officers are cooperating with the police in this investigation," he wrote.
"To ensure the safety of students and staff, we will remain on lockdown until further advised by the police. Please do not call the school or come to pick up your student, as this may interfere or slow down the investigation. As an additional safety precaution, while our building is on lockdown no one will be allowed to enter or exit the building or our campus."
