Fall In Love With Film at the Kansas International Film Festival

The Kansas International Film Festival is here to show you films, shorts and documentaries from around the world.

With so many fall activities to do in Kansas City it is hard to choose what to do but with the Kansas International Film Festival you have a week of activities to attend! Starting today October 12th through the 18th you have the chance to attend many films, shorts and documentaries. It is a perfect activity to experience the cinema in a whole new way. For the past 18 years KIFF has been bringing the metro Kansas City area feature film screenings and discussions to increase public knowledge of the cinema.

This year is going to be so exciting as they have many films, shorts, documentaries and performances with a combined 150 films from 30 different countries. Over the years they have had such amazing panels of creators showing work and this year they did not let us down. On Monday the 15th there is a panel with Mel Jones (Dear White People) who will show episodes of his directorial debut, Leimert Park which has mature themes and images. Kevin Willmott (BlacKkKlansman) will also talk about themes of mentorship in his play, Becoming Martin which will be staged at Kansas City’s own Coterie Theater.

As well as films there will be different musical artists throughout the week. This year the official artist of the festival is singer-songwriter Stephen Kellogg. He will perform Saturday October 13th after the screening of Last Man Standing, a 30 minute documentary by Peter Harding showing the making his 2015 album, South, West, North, East.

There is something for everyone in the 150 films we have this year. The panels and the parties are always a great way to socialize during the festival as well.”
