Fire Knocks Chiefs — Jaguars Season Opener Off The Air
A fire caused technical difficulties for the broadcast of the Chiefs and Jaguar game, knocking the game off the air in the local market.
KANSAS CITY, MO — Chiefs fans in Kansas City found themselves thwarted in their efforts to watch the whole season opener against the the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday reportedly because of a transformer fire near the CBS broadcast truck. CBS made the mistake of telling viewers it was switching to a more competitive game, and that didn't go over well in Kansas City.
The fire knocked the game off the air in the fourth quarter, and the game ended with the Chiefs celebrating a 40 to 26 blowout to start the season. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins dominated with three touchdowns to start the season on a high note for the Chiefs. League MVP Patrick Mahomes was set to take on quarterback Nick Foles, but the Jaguar quarterback got knocked out of the game with an injury.
Needless to say, Chiefs fans went ballistic and vented their frustration on Twitter — little of which can be shared here. Many thought CBS jilted them to switch to a more competitive game. According to USA Today, CBS told viewers that it was switching away from Chiefs-Jaguars for a “more competitive” Browns-Titans game.

This has to be an accident by CBS, right? They didn’t intentionally take the Chiefs game off our market. No way.
