INDEPENDENCE CENTER HOSTS 3rd ANNUAL FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL

Independence Center will host its 3rd annual Food Truck Festival on Saturday, September 30. Local families are invited out to the mall, from 12 to 6 p.m., to partake in some of Kansas City’s favorite four-wheel-based cuisine.

Six of the area’s most popular food trucks will offer a variety of menu items provided by new, emerging chefs with options such as wood-fired pizza, succulent BBQ and flavorful Mexican staples. Participating food trucks include Taste of Kansas City BBQ & Grill, Iggy’s GreenGo, Tito’s BBQ, Blondie’s Woodfire Wheelhouse and Humdinger. Families can also enjoy dessert options from Betty Rae's Ice Cream and SnoFlower’s shaved ice cream.

A portion of all vendor sales will be donated to Susan G. Komen, in conjunction with Independence Center’s upcoming “More Than Pink” initiative. Independence Center is one of more than 180 Simon malls nationwide participating in this month-long October campaign, in support of Simon’s pledge to donate $1 million each year in 2017 and 2018 to Susan G. Komen’s fight against breast cancer.

Participating Independence Center retailers will be offering special deals and discounts throughout the day of the Food Truck Festival. There’ll also be live music, an on-site DJ, and a beer garden featuring craft beers from local breweries. For children, the event will offer a variety of fun-filled activities, including an obstacle course and bounce house. Face painting will take place from 12 to 3 p.m., and there’ll be yard games for all ages.
