Local Resident Brings No. 1 Flooring Franchise to Area

(KANSAS CITY, Missouri)-Business ownership runs in David Baker’s family. And when he recently launched his own small business it held a special significance in his heart whenever he thinks of his grandparents. “My grandfather and great-grandfather operated their own cabinet shops,” Baker said. “It was a trade my grandmother and grandfather brought from the Auschwitz concentration camps after being liberated by the Russian Red Army and escaping to the United States from Poland. Baker spent 40 years in the fine commercial and publishing paper industry, selling paper used by national magazine publications, yearbook and catalog market segments, newspapers and ad agencies, as well as large, national commercial printers. “After spending 40 years fighting a steadily declining industry and then Covid, I decided to put my sales and sales-management skills to use in the high-demand home improvement industry, specifically the flooring segment,” said Baker, who’s also following in the footsteps of his father in business ownership. Again, another move Dave learned from his father who took his TV repair shop started in the 1960s, and turned it into an electronic data scanning and computer design company.
