Kansas City Veteran Honored for #StillServing Her Community
Veterans of Foreign Wars Has Honored Local Veteran for #StillServing in Her Community

Clinton veteran Lisa Thompson is being recognized in the national Veteran of Foreign Wars #StillServing campaign. The campaign honors veterans who continue to serve in their community after active duty.
In addition to serving in the military, Thompson works with Team Rubicon, a disaster recovery organization, and was most recently deployed to New Mexico with its brand new initiative Neighbors Helping Neighbors that was launched in response to the pandemic. In just the past year she has responded to assist with recovery efforts (hurricane, flood) and COVID support (food bank, testing, vaccination and EOC support) in Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Missouri and New Mexico.
She also has worked with Kansas City-based The Battle Within, where she learned alternative ways to live with her physical limitations, CPTSD, anxiety, and depression, but to thrive in spite of them.

With the tools she has learned at The Battle Within alumni and the Team Rubicon TRibe, she is able to continue her service to communities after disasters and individuals within the veteran and service communities who may still be struggling and in pain.
Thompson's dedicated service to the military and her community led her to be chosen as one of the few VFW #StillServing Heroes nationwide. VFW invites all veterans to submit their stories at vfw.org/stillserving.
