First-Grader Seeks Lost Puppy

Update: Sept. 6, 8:23 pm: The puppy has been found.

A first-grader and her family are calling on the Kirkwood community to help them find a lost puppy.

On Sept. 1, Mabel, 8-month-old Brussels Griffon, escaped from her family's fenced-in backyard near Big Bend and South Sappington roads.

The female puppy left the yard with her twin brother. The brother returned but Mabel, a gift for a first-grader at , did not. The pet had only been in the family for a few months, according to family friend Shanna Hall.

Hall posted a notice on her Facebook page, as well as on the Kirkwood Patch Facebook timeline in hopes of bringing attention to the lost dog.

The family of Mabel is offering a $250 reward for her safe return. Mabel is about 10 pounds.
