Chancellor at STLCC Outlines Safety Measures in Wake of Attack
The announcement comes in the wake of the sudden resignation of the president of the Meramec campus.

In an announcement to the St. Louis Community College community posted today, college chancellor Myrtle E.B. Dorsey announced a range of safety measures in the wake of an attack on a female student from Chesterfield in a Meramec campus bathroom.
In the announcement, also posted to the college's Facebook page today, Dorsey noted that she had accepted the resignation on Monday of Meramec campus President George Wasson and named Wildwood campus President Pam McIntyre as interim at Meramec.
"I want all of you to know how seriously we take safety and security," Dorsey said in her statement.

She outlined three immediate steps:
- She called on campus presidents to host Safety Forums at their campuses in the next two weeks, designed "to gather input, review procedures and answer questions."
- She said she would collaborate with the presidents "create an action plan based on...suggestions (from the forus) and...report that back to the college community."
- She encouraged students, faculty and staff to sign up for the college's emergency text service, STLCCAlert.

Meanwhile, according to a report by the Meramec campus newspaper, The Montage, students and staff were saddened and shocked by Wasson's resignation.
"I think it’s incredibly unexpected. I think it’s pretty obvious there’s a direct link to the recent incidents," Coordinator of Enrollment Management Kim Fitzgerald told the newspaper. "Having been here for over 25 years you see a lot of things happen and you see a lot of people come and go. You see a lot of people go out in flames."
