Lamborghini Suffers 'Unintended Viking Funeral' In St. Louis
A minivan owner pumping gas nearby reportedly set off the inferno, which engulfed the $400,000 supercar in seconds.

KIRKWOOD, MO — The owner of a blue Lamborghini was very upset Saturday evening after his sports car caught fire and exploded at a gas station in a freak accident. The driver of a minivan, who had been pumping fuel at the same Kirkwood gas station, had driven away with the nozzle still in the gas tank, causing the inferno, the Riverfront Times reports.
The fire happened just after 8 p.m. at the Mobil gas station at the intersection of Manchester and Geyer Roads. The driver of the car was reportedly on his way home after the GoldRush Rally, an intercontinental supercar event, which began in Boston in June and recently ended in Las Vegas.
It cost $20,000 just to drive in the rally, and Fox News and bgr.com estimated the Lamborghini's value at around $400,000.

"The pump sprayed fuel directly into the blue Huracan’s engine bay and it instantly ignited," bystander Parker Gelber wrote on Facebook earlier this week.

Gelber went on to explain exactly what happened:
The result, according to the RFT, was an "unintended Viking funeral" for the luxury supercar. The outlet didn't mince words with its headline: "Incredible Dumbass Turns Lamborghini Into Fireball At St. Louis Gas Station."
Police say they found the driver that started the blaze, but that it was an accident, and no criminal charges have been filed.
