POLICE: Thieves Hit 17 Vehicles in North Kirkwood
Unlocked vehicles continue to attract a rash of break-ins in Kirkwood.

Kirkwood police responded to a report of a theft from one vehicle in the 1200 block of Folger Avenue last week, but an investigation into the incident revealed a more widespread problem.
Police got the call from a resident about the theft July 3. After canvasing the area, officers discovered a total of 17 vehicles had been rifled through with items stolen from some of them.
All the vehicles were unlocked. So far, a male suspect has been arrested in connection with the thefts, according to a police report.

The rash of vehicle break-ins continued during the week. Last Friday, officers responded to numerous reports of thefts from vehicles throughout Kirkwood, according to police.
One suspect was taken into custody and later admitted that he and other yet to be identified subjects had entered approximately 30 unlocked vehicles. Officers continue to investigate the break-ins.
