Veteran Kirkwood Kindergarten Teacher Katherine Mugge Memorialized Today

Ms. Mugge taught in the Kirkwood School District for 30 years before she retired.

Katherine Clouser “Katie” Mugge, a 30-year veteran kindergarten teacher in the Kirkwood School District before her retirement, died on Saturday. She was 56.

Mrs. Mugge's memorial service will be today, Tuesday, March 12, from 4-7 p.m. at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood.

She last taught at Westchester Elementary. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Westchester Elementary Katie Fund, c/o Lynn Hawkins, 1416 Woodgate Dr., Kirkwood, MO 63122.

"Born on Aug. 3, 1956, Katie graduated Kirkwood High School in 1974 then graduated from the University of Georgia in 1978, receiving her B.S. in Education. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Katie retired after 30 years as a devoted Kindergarten teacher in the Kirkwood School District, Westchester Elementary being the last school where she taught.

"She cherished her dog, Pepper and her grand-dogs, Murphy and Leo. Katie was an avid gardener, loved the Florida Gators and to her, everything was pink."
