Prism Medical Supports Veterans

Prism Medical USA, Inc. hosted the 2014 Prism Patriot Invitational on Thursday, May 29 at the Log Cabin Club in St. Louis. This inaugural golf event raised more than $85,000 to support veterans and families of soldiers injured or lost during the ongoing Global War on Terrorism (GWOT).

According to Charles Wallace, president and chief executive officer of Prism Medical USA, estimates suggest over 1.2 million military personnel will return to civilian life in the next two years.  “All were volunteers, trained with technical skills in core disciplines.  Naturally, these men and women will seek pathways to fulfilling careers in business and industry. Likewise, families of injured soldiers, or those who were lost, will require support through educational opportunities.”

“We at Prism are fully committed to hiring military veterans while, at the same time, working with our supply chain partners to do the same. We are aggressively recruiting vets for our business. It is the right thing to do on so many levels. On one hand, our country owes veterans and their families for the years of their dedicated service and sacrifice. On the other, Prism, as a growth company, needs the skills and professionalism vets bring to the civilian workplace. Recruiting and hiring vets is a win-win for them and us,” Wallace says.

The 2014 Prism Patriot Invitational benefited two of this country’s leading groups currently serving veterans and military families: U.S.VETS, Inc. and the Patriot Foundation.

With a facility in St. Louis located at 8410 Engler Park Court, U.S.VETS is the largest provider of programs and housing for homeless and at-risk veterans in the country. Headquartered in Los Angeles, its services are available to all veterans in need, with specialty programs tailored to the specific issues facing certain veteran populations, such as single mothers with children, non-custodial fathers, the chronically mentally ill and troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Patriot Foundation is headquartered in Pinehurst, NC, and principally serves the families of Fort Bragg soldiers killed, wounded, and injured in the GWOT. The Patriot Foundation provides college scholarships for children and childcare funding for spouses who need to go back to school to provide for the financial stability of their families. Fort Bragg is the largest US Army base by population in the world (more than 57,000 soldiers) with 10 percent of the Army serving there.

Stephen Peck, president and chief executive officer of U.S.VETS was the principal representative of the organization at the tournament. He has been with U.S.VETS for nearly 20 years and is the son of Hollywood acting legend, Gregory Peck. Major General (Retired) Charles Swannack represented the Patriot Foundation. He retired from the military after a 34-year Army career, including an assignment as commander of Fort Bragg’s 82nd Airborne Division, and currently serves as an advisor to the foundation.
