Memorial Set For St. Joseph's Alumni Rosemary Wellington

A memorial service is later this month for Rosemary Ward Wellington who is being remembered for her service to her community and to her alma mater, St. Joseph's Academy.

According to Gerber Chapel in Webster Groves, a memorial service will be held later this month for Rosemary Ward Wellington of Webster Groves. Wellington passed away Sunday and is survived by her children and grandchildren.

As noted in her obituary, Wellington is being remembered for her life-long list of achievements, many of which were in the field of athletics, and her community service.

Wellington reportedly graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1937 where she later returned to teach and serve as athletic director.
The St. Joseph's Academy Alumnae Association posted the following announcement on its Facebook page Monday.
We are deeply saddened to share with you that Rosemary Ward Wellington '38 passed away yesterday. Rosemary embodied the motto "Not I, But We" and impacted countless Angels throughout the years. We are forever grateful for her service and our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

According to Gerber Chapel, a mass will be held for Wellington at 10 a.m. Saturday July 27 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 676 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves. There will be a private burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Contributions in memory may be made to Rosemary Ward Wellington Athletic Fund at St. Joseph's Academy, 2307 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131, according to her obituary.
