Inspection Reports: Brentwood Pools Examined by County Officials

Summer is heating up, which means more people are headed to the pools in Brentwood and Maplewood.

Several pools were inspected by the St. Louis County Health Department in Brentwood and Maplewood this summer. Patch examined those inspection reports and compiled information using publicly-available data published to the health department's website. 

Unless otherwise noted, all inspections were conducted on a routine basis.

Brentwood

outdoor pool, 1404 Thrush Place
Inspection date: June 8
Comments: "No diving" symbols were not located near the shallow areas of the pool. This was corrected before a followup inspection on June 15.

wade pool, 2100 S. Central Street
Inspection date: June 28
Comments: The following violations were among those cited in the inspection report:

• Several required signs, such as one about how to register a complaint about the pool to St. Louis County officials, were not present.
• No shepherds crook present.
• No ring buoy present.
• "No diving" symbols were not located near the shallow areas of the pool.
• Depth of water wasn't marked on the side of the pool.

Except for two signs violations, these were corrected by a July 12 inspection.

Stanford Place II Apartments outdoor pool, 72 Van Mark Way
Inspection date: June 4
Comments: The following violations were among those cited in the inspection report:

• Deck chairs were located too close to the pool.
• Handrails weren't provided with all stairs, steps and ladders.
• Several signs were missing.
• "No diving" symbols were not located near the shallow areas of the pool.

Except for markings indicating depth of water, all violations were reported corrected before a June 25 inspection.

Comments: The following violations were among those cited in the inspection report:The pH level wasn't in the correct range and "no diving" symbols were not located near the shallow areas of the pool. These violations were reported corrected before a June 27 followup inspection.
