Jones Typewriter Moves Within Maplewood, Pizza Coming
The owner wanted to stay in Maplewood.

Jones Typewriter, the Maplewood shop packed to the gills with typewriters dating back decades, has moved within Maplewood.
Owner Vern Trampe said if they were going to stay in business, he wanted it to be in Maplewood. The rent at 7278 Manchester Avenue became too steep for the shop. The new location is 3530 Greenwood Avenue.
The phone number, 314-781-0919, has stayed the same.

Laurie Luna, Trampe's daughter, said she can tell anyone it’s between Foley’s Bar and Grill and Shur-Way Auto Body, and that locates it.
Luna said their landlord wanted them to move west on Manchester to a house with front parking spaces that forced backing into Manchester. “I’d rather have no parking than that,” she said. “I saw an accident waiting to happen.”

She said the new location is smaller. “We needed to downsize maybe, because they’re both getting older. I think it will be good, as long as people can find us.”
A new restaurant, A Pizza Story, plans to use the old Jones space to sell wood-fired pizza.
