Strange Donuts Held a Party at The Post in Maplewood
Curious to see just how strange the doughnuts really are?
Fans following the progress of Strange Donuts were treated to their first tasting on Thursday evening.Â
Patch introduced you to three men behind Strange Donuts in January. Since then, they have launched a Kickstarter campaign and developed a following on Twitter and Facebook.Â
On Thursday, they held a party at The Post Sports Bar and Grill to introduce the business to a wider community.Â

"It has been an absolute mad rush," shouted Billy Bommarito, better known as Sweet Will, over the loud hum of a crowd gathered in The Post's back room. At least 45 people were packed into the room at any one time during the first hour.
Strange Donuts made about 600 doughnut holes for the event, and more than half were gone within the first 20 minutes, Bommarito said.Â

"People are responding well with big eyes and big smiles as they're taking bites," Bommarito said.Â
So just how strange were the doughnuts? Bommarito described the three flavors available during Thursday's gathering:
- chocolate-peanut butter: a chocolate cake doughnut covered in peanut butter icing with a chocolate drizzle on top
- Crunch Berries doughnut: a yeast doughnut with a vanilla glaze and Crunch Berries on and inside the doughnut
- maple-bacon: a yeast doughnut covered in a maple glaze with bacon bits on the inside and on top
If you're wondering, the Crunch Berries doughnut is Bommarito's favorite.Â
Strange Donuts also held a Pog tournament at the party, and announced the winner on Twitter on Thursday evening.
