Doughnut fans from Maplewood and beyond will need to wait just a bit longer for a Strange Donut.
Corey Smale, one of the partners in the business, announced on Facebook on Wednesday that due to "plumbing/construction hurdles" in converting their new space into a kitchen the opening will not be on June 7, National Doughnut Day, as originally hoped for. It will now be sometime in July.
Smale (rhymes with tail) says there is good news, though. He's still celebrating the national day on June 7 at Kuva Coffee Factory, 5231 C Manchester Avenue.
He's offering free donuts, free coffee from Kuva Coffee, DJ Billy Brown, photo booths with PhotoboothStL, live screen prints with Danger Schmanger and sample beers by Perennial Artisan Ales, he says on Facebook.
Also, Kickstarter rewards will be available, and he promises a few more surprises.
Smale finishes with a thanks for being patient with us, and his signature sign-off, "STAY STRANGE."
