The Maplewood Public Library has joined forces with The Maplewood Business Special District to create an outdoor walking storybook tour for children. With the assistance of Artists First, the pages of a children’s book were recreated in the form of sequentially numbered posters for the windows of participating businesses and a self-guided tour, Tales from Maplewood, was created.
The tour is run much like a scavenger hunt, only with reading. The project began on October 3, 2020 and features two Halloween books: The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams and The HALLO-WiENER by DAV PilKEY. The tour begins at 7195 Manchester Rd., Intaglia Home, and continues along the north and south sides of the 7200 block of Manchester Rd. with some posters along the way to Sutton Loop Park.
This is a great family activity, especially if your children are missing in-person story hour or if they love Halloween stories or books. The outdoor walking book tour will continue through October 31, 2020 and is free for the reading!
