The Heights: Long List of New Fitness Equipment, Pool Closed to Mid-September

The cleaning crew discovered holes in the pool liner.

The Heights fitness center has reopened after its annual maintenance week, but unfortunately, the pool will remain closed until possibly up to mid-September.

When the pool was being cleaned during the annual maintenance week they noticed the cleaner was leaking down through the liner in several places, which could have led to dangerous situations for swimmers, Director of Parks and Recreation Teresa Proebsting said.

Proebsting said they decided reline the whole pool. She said the job was scheduled for next year, so it’s being pushed up by a year. The pool will reopen on Sept. 16 at the latest.

Proebsting said one of the most important things the staff does during maintenance week is deep cleaning, from power washing sidewalks to cleaning every corner. She said every staff member, including her, takes part in the cleaning.

The fitness room was restocked with a long list of new equipment. Some of it replaces older equipment and some, like the Evo spin bike, is new to the room.
