Coldwell Banker Gundaker’s Mehlville/South County Office Hosts Food Drive to Fill Military Base Pantry

St. Louis (November 16, 2016)—When Coldwell Banker Gundaker’s Mehlville/South County office received news that the Jefferson Barracks Military Food Pantry’s shelves were empty, it began a food drive to help fill them with an initial focus on Thanksgiving dinner items. The office has further established itself as a permanent donation site for the food pantry.

“We wanted to start our food drive requesting traditional Thanksgiving foods to ensure no families are without a holiday meal,” said Sue Middendorf, manager of Coldwell Banker Gundaker’s Mehlville/South County office. “Many people want to help keep the pantry filled, but aren’t sure where to make donations because the pantry is only open twice a month. Since our office is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. we have decided to be a permanent donation site.”

The Jefferson Barracks Military Base is used for Air and Army National Guard Training. Its food pantry is only open twice a month, when there is a military drill. Military and veterans and their families come to shop and deployed soldiers depend on the pantry to help their families while they are deployed. All food items are donated and the pantry is staffed by volunteers.

Though all non-perishable food donations are welcomed, the Mehlville/South county office is currently looking for Thanksgiving side items to include:

• Green beans
• Cranberry sauce
• Instant mashed potatoes
• Canned sweet potatoes
• Stuffing
• Mushroom soup
• Canned crispy fried onions

Donations for the Jefferson Barracks Military Food Pantry can be brought to Coldwell Banker Gundaker's Mehlville/South County office every day from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 5538 Telegraph Road, St. Louis, MO, 63129. For more information, call 314-487-0050.
