Mike Matheny Saves the Day

When Ted Simmons cancelled his December 11 appearance at the Sports Collectors Expo, Mike Matheny stepped in on short notice to save the day

Saint Louis, Mo. (November 18, 2016) – Sports Collector’s Warehouse Business Development Director, Tom Kyle, announced today that Mike Matheny will now be one of the seven Cardinal players signing autographs at the Sports Collectors Expo. The other Cardinals will include Whitey Herzog, Vince Coleman, Jack Clark, Al Hrabosky, Glen Brummer, and Ken Dayley. The organization has been advised by Ted Simmons’ representatives he will not be attending the December 11, 2016, Sports Collector’s Expo. No reason was given for the cancellation. Mr. Simmons representatives were not available for comment. Kyle stated that no new pre-orders for Simmons autographed items will be accepted, however, arrangements have been made to honor any presold autograph requests through other channels.

It was also announced that the Holiday Inn South County Center at 6921 South Lindbergh Blvd. 63125 has been designated the official hotel for the Expo. Fredbird is still on schedule to fly in from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. to host a “Picture with Fredbird” fundraiser for Backstoppers in honor of the family of fallen Officer Blake Snyder.

General admission is $4.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door, starting at 8:00 a.m. and running until 2:00 p.m. Advance purchases of tickets can be designated by school for a 50% donation to the St. Louis County Police D.A.R.E. Program. Autograph signings will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.

The Sports Collector’s Warehouse organization supports both military veterans and first responders at all its events. Admission is free with presentation of credentials for both honored groups.

This is very much a family oriented event with attractions for children of all ages. In addition to over 200 baseball card and memorabilia tables, the Expo will offer “Sports Logo Face Painting,” a “Radar Gun Throw” and a “Spinning Wheel of Prizes.”
