A pipe bomb is discovered at a Mehlville area apartment complex on Thursday, prompting the bomb and arson unit to come out.
It happened about 9 a.m., according to KTVI, at the Covington Place Apartments just off Lemay Ferry Road.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department, a maintenance man working at the complex found the four-to-six-inch device.
Police said the man discovered the device on the ground on a hillside near the apartment courtyard. The man told police he opened the device up and it had what appeared to be BB pellet or possibly ball-bearings on the inside.
The man said he closed the device and took it to a maintenance shed, according to police.
Police said the bomb and arson unit got rid of the bomb, and now investigators are now trying to locate its creator.
