Police Arrest Man After Finding Stolen Sporting Goods in Car

Several stolen items worth at least $500—including baseball equipment, uniforms and a riding helmet—were recovered from the vehicle.

Police arrested a man at the entrance to Cliff Cave Park and found hundreds of dollars worth of stolen sporting equipment in his car, according to the weekly police blotter.

The man was reported to the South County Precinct of the St. Louis County Police on around 10 p.m. October 12. Police found him hiding in his vehicle near the intersection of England Town Road and Pierwood Drive, according to police reports.

When police approached, the man drove away, and police followed him to the entrance of Cliff Cave Park.

When he refused to leave the vehicle, police used force to put him in custody, police said.

Several stolen items worth at least $500—including baseball equipment, uniforms and a riding helmet—were recovered from the vehicle. Some of the items were returned to a victim, and police are storing the other items until they locate the owners.
