5 Ideas For Decorating Your Cardboard Boat

Wednesday, July 17 is the last day to register for O'Fallon's big cardboard boat races, which are part of the Parks Departments' big Shipwrecked Pirates Day on Sunday, July 21.

Want to enter but just don't have any ideas what to build? Here are our ideas for decorating your cardboard-and-duct tape vessel:

  1. The Loch Ness Monster. Might want to leave the kilt at home, though. Wool shrinks.
  2. The Pinta. Because the Niña and the Santa Maria get all the press, and Columbus probably would have wanted everyone to get some recognition.
  3. One of James Bond's über-cool all-terrain vehicles.
  4. A swan boat from an amusement park ride.
  5. The Queen Anne's Revenge. That was the name of Blackbeard's ship. But keep in mind, things didn't end well for him.
