Mahoney takes his talents to Truman!
FZN Senior Brendan Mahoney to play football at Truman State.

FZN Senior Brendan Mahoney recently signed to play football with Truman State University, located in Kirksville, MO. Mahoney joins teammate Robert Rezex, who had previously signed with Truman. Mahoney was a two-way starter for the Panthers last fall. He helped the Panthers capture their 7th straight conference and district titles. The Panthers finished the season with an 11 – 2 mark, falling in the state semi-final round to the eventual state champions from Jackson. On defense, Mahoney was a two-year starter for the Panthers recording 49 solo tackles and 44 assists over that two-year period. This past season, Mahoney added offensive line duties to his resume, as he helped the Panthers once again sport the highest scoring offense in St. Charles County. For his efforts, Mahoney was recognized as a Class 5 “All-State” 2nd team defensive performer. He was also placed on both the “All-Conference” and “All-District” first teams on both sides of the ball.
A talented athlete with diverse talents, Mahoney has earned five varsity letters from track and wrestling. He is a two-time state qualifier in wrestling for the Panthers, with hopes of competing in the state track meet this spring. An honor-student, Mahoney was a consistent “All-Academic” performer at FZN.
Truman State is a NCAA D2 school that competes in athletics as a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). The Bulldogs did not play a fall schedule in 2020, but they do plan on playing an abbreviated schedule this spring. In 2019, the Bulldogs completed one of their better seasons in recent history finishing with a 9 – 2 overall record and narrowly missing the NCAA playoffs. At Truman, Mahoney plans on focusing on the defensive side of the ball. He plans on studying physics and computer science at Truman. Mahoney is the son of Brain and Marian Mahoney.
