O’Fallon resident selected as 2017 Bank of America Student Leader

O'Fallon resident and Christian Brothers College High School student Ryan Murphy selected for 2017 Bank of America Student Leader Program

Christian Brothers College High School senior Ryan Murphy is one of five St. Louis-area teens selected to be part of the 2017 Bank of America Student Leaders program this summer. The program awards the students a paid, eight-week summer internship at a local nonprofit and a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit.

As a senior, Ryan was actively involved in the local Big Brother Program, where he mentored underprivileged children in the St. Louis area. Ryan helped students with their school work, study skills and preparation for their future. Ryan now understands that when you give the gift of compassion, you receive the gift of understanding in return. Ryan also and his student council peers helped create the Good Will Game at Christian Brothers College High School, a clothing drive for to help the homeless, with his student council peers. Through this program, Ryan incentivized students to donate clothes by offering dress down days, and as a result, the school received over 800 bags of clothes for the homeless.

As part of the Bank of America Student Leaders program, Ryan received a paid eight-week internship. Ryan is interning at the International Institute. The internships provide students with valuable work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer.
