Panther Pride Band set to host River City Showcase!

The 8th annual event features 18 bands.

The Panther Pride Marching Band is set to host their 8th annual “River City” Showcase this Saturday, October 12th at Robert Fisher Stadium. There will be 18 bands in the competition preliminary rounds which are scheduled to begin at 10:30 am. A panel of seven judges from Florida, Texas, Indiana, New Jersey, Georgia and Louisiana will be providing feedback and scoring each band in the categories of music, visual, and general effect. These scores will determine the order of the placement, and the top 12 bands in prelims will qualify for the finals, which begin at 6:30 pm.

As the host of the event, The Panther Pride Band will perform in exhibition at 3:45 pm. The Panther Pride Band is widely regarded as one of the top bands in Missouri. This year’s show is titled, “The Gateway to the West” and has a western expansion theme. The elaborate show features music from “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”, “Stand by your Man”, and has been a fan favorite at FZN home football games this season. So far this competition season, the Panther Pride Band has captured top honors at the Lafayette Band Festival and earned a 2nd place overall finish at the O’Fallon Township competition. The Panther Pride Band hopes to once again be a finalist, last achieved in 2017, at the Bands of America Super Regional held at the Dome at America’s center in St. Louis the weekend of October 18th.

Notable bands participating in Saturday’s event include the defending champions from Oakville, as well as Township High out of O’Fallon, IL who was recognized as a Band of America Grand National Finalist in 2018. Former overall River City champion, Rockwood Summit is also scheduled to participate and Fort Zumwalt East, who recently won the grand championship at the SIU-Carbondale “Music in Motion” Festival, is another considered as a contender for the title of overall champion.
