Panthers pull away late from Timberland
The FZN football team moves to 2 - 1 on the season with a victory over Timberland.

The Panther football team notched their second win of 2020 season with a 41-21 win over a game Timberland squad. The game was tightly contested for 3 quarters before the Panthers pulled away late. The offense led the way, racking up an impressive total of 514 yards of total offense. Leading rushers were Chris Futrell with 174 yards and 4 touchdowns. Futrell now leads the St. Louis area with 8 touchdowns on the season. The always dangerous Tyler Oakes added 165 yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries. Versatile senior Robert Rezex made a strong contribution with a combined (rushing and receiving) 90 yards of total offense. Sophomore DJ Jones added a touchdown. It was Jones first varsity touchdown.
The defense was led by the line play of De’Shawn Williams, Brendan Mahoney and Nate Rapplean, who had a combined 14 tackles. Eddie Angelbeck had 7 tackles, Spencer Steinmeyer had 5, and Robert Rezex contributed another huge interception.
This Friday the Panthers will open conference (GAC Central) play against Washington. The Blue Jays will enter Friday’s contest with a 3 – 0 record after having won all three of their contests by wide margins. The Panthers will host Friday's contest.
