Press Release: Toastmasters District 8 Conference

Toastmasters, public speaking, conference

On Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20, local Toastmasters members from across the region will gather at City Place Hotel in downtown St. Louis for the Toastmasters District 8 Spring Conference. This annual event includes education sessions as well as the District 8 International Speech and Evaluation Contests. All competitors belong to Toastmasters clubs in Eastern Missouri or Southwestern Illinois.

Due to their success at the Division B Contest in April, Dr. Martin Niboh and Ms. Ali Jean Wells, both members of the St. Charles County Toastmasters Club, will compete at the District 8 Conference. Dr. Niboh will compete in the Evaluation Contest on Friday evening where he and fellow competitors will listen to a pattern speech and then provide immediate feedback to the speaker. Ms. Wells will give a pre-prepared speech in the International Speech Competition on Saturday evening.

Individuals who are not already members of Toastmasters are welcome to attend the conference. Information about the cost to attend and schedule of events can be found at http://dist8tm.org/. The conference is sure to inspire any individual wishing to become a better public speaker, and attendees will hear many impressive speeches.
