OLIVETTE, MO — The mother of a former St. Louis police chief has been charged with embezzling millions of dollars from an Olivette real estate business where she worked.
A grand jury indicted Carol Dotson with a count of wire fraud. Authorities say she bilked the real estate business from 2003 to February 2017. She started working there in 1990.
Dotson — the mother of former St. Louis police chief Sam Dotson — also stands accused of writing checks to herself totaling $20,000, embezzling $2 million and creating bogus financial reports, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Online court records don't indicate whether she has an attorney.
