Local teens' call to action in inspiring YouTube video.

Local teens issue inspiring message in internet video.

Recently, I came across a video on the internet featuring presumably local teens. In the video, I recognized a few different Springfield locations, such as Kickapoo High school and The Battlefield mall meeting other teens and making conversation. The video was decent enough and was the same format as typical videos Generation Z would normally view. What got me was not the main focus of the video, but their call to action at the tail-end of it. At the end of the video, the tone changes from the YouTube style of the rest of the video, into a more somber mood. It reads "We wanted to issue a challenge to everyone who sees this video. Far too often our generation (gen z) is seen as isolated, and alone. A lot of that has to do with anxiety, fear, and depression. Our challenge to you is that, whether you be among friends or by yourself, try and go out of your way to talk, and interact with others. By going out of your way to be kind, and friendly to others, you help fight the status quo and maybe brighten up someone's day." When I read this it tugged at my heartstrings quite a bit, this is exactly the message teenagers need to be hearing in this day and age. Its a message for adults as well, too often we are so caught up in our own business that we fail to interact with those right in front of us. So today I'd like to issue the same challenge, next time you're in a public place, try and be friendly and kind to a stranger. You might just make their day.
