Springfield Residents Surprised with Scholarships to WGU Missouri

Lora Miller and Samuel Morgan were recently awarded scholarships to the fully online, nonprofit university

Two Springfield residents were recently awarded scholarships to WGU Missouri.

Lora Miller was surprised with a $2,500 Community College Partner Scholarship, which is available for partner community college graduates and staff looking to earn a WGU bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, business, teacher education or healthcare. Miller, a community health nurse for the Springfield Greene County Health Department NEST Partnership, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-to-BSN) from WGU Missouri. She was virtually presented with the scholarship on April 27 by WGU Strategic Partnerships Manager Christy Seawall.

Samuel Morgan was surprised with a $4,000 Resiliency Scholarship to WGU Missouri. The scholarship is designed to assist students with the unforeseen financial struggles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and allow them to continue their course of study. Morgan, an employee for Bass Pro Shops and Expedia Group, Inc., is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from WGU Missouri. He was virtually presented with the scholarship on April 28 by WGU Strategic Partnerships Manager John Hardin.
