UScellular Kicks Off 4th Annual Black History Month Art Contest

Effort is being done in conjunction with Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, representatives from UScellular and Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield announce the kickoff of the 4th annual UScellular Black History Month Art Contest. Starting today, Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield members are encouraged to create original pieces of artwork in recognition of influential Black people from around the globe, including historical figures, world leaders, athletes and celebrities. UScellular provided art supplies and will connect with the kids from the club via a video call to highlight the contest, talk about prizes and promote dialogue about who inspires them and why.

In late January, 10 finalists will be chosen by representatives from the Boys & Girls Club and local UScellular leaders based on creativity, quality, interpretation, clarity of theme and overall impression. From Feb. 1 – Feb. 28, anyone 18 and older will be invited to vote for their favorite art online.

“We are once again thrilled to work with Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield on this annual contest to honor Black icons and showcase youth in our community,” said David King, store manager for UScellular in Springfield. “We look forward to seeing the inspiration, vision and artistic talent from youth here in Springfield and celebrating the winners in March.”
