Bazooka Round Found in Suicidal Man's Car

The St. Charles County bomb disposal unit removed the explosive and is turning it over to the military to see if it is still live.

WELDON SPRING, MO — A local gas station and surrounding businesses were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a police standoff with a suicidal man. Officers from St. Charles County received a call around noon reporting a man threatening to kill himself at the Shell gas station on Highway 94, officials said, but were able to talk the man down without incident.

Upon taking the man into custody, police found a World War II-era bazooka round inside his car, prompting a nearby Jack-in-the-Box restaurant, animal hospital and other businesses to be evacuated.

The St. Charles County bomb disposal unit, working with the ATF and FBI, removed the explosive ordinance from the car. They are turning it over to the military to see if it is still live.
