Crisis Nursery Honors Advocates at "Over the Top for Tots"

The chic luncheon will also feature shopping, music, mimosas, and over 50 raffle items.

The Children’s Champion Award, the Healing Hearts Award, and the Guardian Angel Award. The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery will bestow these honors on individuals and groups for their advocacy, commitment, and dedication to the children of the Crisis Nursery. The presentation will be a feature of the Over the Top for Tots luncheon on November 2, 2018.

In addition to the awards presentation, Over the Top for Tots involves shopping, mimosas, music, a raffle with over 50 items and an amazing live auction. Tickets are still available, although the event is expected to sell out.

The Children’s Champion Award will be presented to Angela Owen, Region Marketing Activation Manager for Coca-Cola North America, and Linda Markus, District Manager for Shop ‘n Save/Supervalu. For the past several years Ms. Owen’s and Ms. Markus’ advocacy to their companies on behalf of the Crisis Nursery has resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in Shop ‘n Save gift cards. The gift cards were used by the Crisis Nursery to feed families in the St. Louis and St. Charles areas. Because of the compassion and caring of Ms. Owen and Ms. Markus, and the generosity of Heartland Coca-Cola and Shop ‘n Save, thousands of children did not have to go hungry.

Penny Rogers, Vice President at BancorpSouth, is the recipient of the Healing Hearts Award. As a long-time volunteer and Advisory Board member, Ms. Rogers has donated hundreds and hundreds of hours and an untold amount of creative energy to the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery. As the artistic genius behind the Razzle Dazzle Gala decorating committee for many years, Ms. Rogers’ time and talent have taken the Nursery’s fundraising gala to a new level. Each year she designs amazing decorations that thrill the Razzle Dazzle participants.

This year’s Guardian Angel Award winner, The Blue Ribbon Committee, was formed almost 15 years ago to support the Crisis Nursery locations in St. Charles County. Besides acting as ambassadors to spread the word about the amazing work the Crisis Nursery does, the Blue Ribbon Committee held the first Over the Top for Tots event in 2006 to support the Healing Hearts Art Therapy program. Because of the success of Over the Top for Tots, the Crisis Nursery was able to add a Play Therapist in 2016. The Blue Ribbon Committee also hosts The Formula for Hope event to collect formula for the families served by the Crisis Nursery.
