Not In My Backyard: Residents Don't Want Drug Treatment Center
Would you allow a drug treatment center in your neighborhood? Some St. Charles County residents say, "Not in my backyard."

ST. CHARLES, MO — New Season, a new drug treatment center, is getting pushback from St. Charles County residents who say, "Not in my backyard." Located nearby to a daycare and within a mile of three schools, the facility will serve about 350 people suffering from opioid addiction. Proponents say with an opioid epidemic tearing apart communities, the center is severely needed, and will prevent drug-related crimes rather than cause them. But, that's not enough for some residents.
Fox 2 St. Louis reports one man is leading the charge against New Season:
“Nobody I know of is against the clinics. It’s just why put them so close to schools. Why put them right in somebody’s back yard?” said Jim Meinhardt.
He’s leading a petition drive to stop it. He manages of a nearby computer store and lives in the neighborhood.
The center still needs approval from state and federal agencies, and a spokesman said New Season would offer tours to anyone who is worried. Read more from Fox 2.
