Opportunities to Volunteer in St. Louis in Honor of 9/11

Check out how you can volunteer in honor of the first responders and fire fighters who died on Sept. 11.

The United Way of Greater St. Louis has compiled a list of volunteer opportunities during the week of Sept. 7-15. Check out different ways to help out in your community in honor of the anniversary of 9/11.

  • Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition: Help switch out clothing for foster children at the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition's KidStore in south St. Louis for any three hour period from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14.
  • St. Louis Fire Fighters: Pay tribute to fire fighters and first responders by helping clean up the St. Louis Fire Department Headquarters and Training Facility Sept. 7. Registration starts at 8:15 a.m. 
  • Neighborhood Watch Brochures: Help prep 700 brochures to be delivered to local homes. Event is in O'Fallon from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Volunteers must pre-register. 
  • Pick up Litter: Volunteers will pick up litter and debris from roadsides of Veterans Memorial Parkway Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Register in advance.
  • Garden with Girls Inc.: Girls Inc in St. Louis will plant various vegetables in a Girls Inc garden  on Sept. 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 
  • Help with Quarter Auction for United Way: Volunteers are needed to make popcorn and serve beverages at Meramec Bluffs in Ballwin during the employee auction event at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13. 
  • Set up the Fatherhood Picnic: Catholic Family Services is seeking volunteers to help set up for the fatherhood picnic and participate in games in activities at the event, which will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14.
