"Putting It Together: The Art of Assembling" Opening Reception at the Foundry Art Centre

Putting It Together: The Art of Assembling will showcase assemblage and collage pieces in Gallery I and II on August 12.

Assemblage and collage both involve the thoughtful combination of elements to create something new and original. Putting It Together: The Art of Assembling will showcase assemblage and collage pieces alongside one another in Gallery I & II from August 12 – September 23, 2016. Juried by Missouri State instructor and sculptor Kevin Hughes, this new exhibition will open with a reception on Friday, August 12 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A gallery talk will be given at 5:30pm before the reception begins.

Alongside Putting It Together, Ohio sculptor Nathaniel Foley, award winner from the Foundry Art Centre’s 2014 exhibition Given Form, will exhibit in Gallery III. Foley’s Flight of Obscurity V explores the process, materials, and language of aviation through an installation of dynamic sculptures.

Enjoy food and drinks while chatting with Putting It Together’s participating artists at the opening reception and be sure to head to the mezzanine level to visit with the Foundry Art Centre studio artists. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Both exhibitions will open Friday, August 12 and close Friday, September 23, 2016. Financial assistance for these exhibitions is provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
