From the Missouri State Capitol to the First State Capitol

Message from Rep Chrissy Sommer
This past week our Nation lost one of our former First Ladies, Barbara Bush. Her and George Bush were married for 73 years and shared a love story that began when she was 16 years old and met George at a Christmas dance.
When she died Tuesday at the age of 92, her husband was at her side the entire day holding her hand. There is one quote I love that she said and it goes, "At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent."

My family, my children, my husband, are the reason I serve, but being away from them can be tough - at times very tough. I am proud to serve, and knowing that I have their support and their encouragement keeps me going. I also keep this saying close to my heart when I am away from them .... "Never sacrifice these three things: your family, your heart, and your dignity."
As always, I encourage you to come visit your Missouri Capitol during session. It's always interesting to see your legislators at work. We hope to see you sometime in the Capitol.
