Remembering 9/11 Fifteen Years Later.

Do you recall where you were that fateful day fifteen years ago? I know exactly where I was and what I was doing. The disbelief, the shock, the horror, the unbelievable. It's hard to imagine that was fifteen years ago.

Americans' memories of 9/11 will continue to shift as time passes, and individuals' memories will become less personal and more collective as a nation, says a Purdue University professor who studies history and memory.

Every generation has a touchstone event, such as Pearl Harbor, the assassinations of John F. Kennedy or Martin Luther King, Jr., or the Challenger explosion, that was defining for their generation. People who experienced these moments often recount vivid details of where they were on that day.

9/11 will forever be a part of our history and a part of my life. I will never forget what happened to our country that day, and all of those we loved and lost.
