Saint Charles Coyotes Getting More Aggressive, Authorities Say
As the animals search for food in winter, confrontations with humans are more common. Some small dogs have been killed.

ST. CHARLES, MO — Coyotes in the St. Charles area are becoming more aggressive in their search for food this winter, according to a report from the Post-Dispatch. Authorities say that when food and water resources become scarce, confrontations with humans and domestic animals can happen more often. Some area pet owners are even blaming coyotes for attacking and killing their dogs.
The Missouri Department of Conservation and area police say they have been getting more and more calls about the animals from St. Louis and St. Charles counties in recent weeks. They say there's no need to dial 911 over wildlife sightings, but caution people not to approach or feed coyotes, and to keep dogs and other pets indoors or under close supervision.

4 coyote were seen by Willmore Park tonight. Coyotes don't normally pose a threat to humans but they are capable of attacking small pets. Please do not approach wild animals and please dont feed them.
There is no need to dial 911 if you see them, or any other wildlife. @SLMPD pic.twitter.com/z0qefgcCJn
