Saint Louis Police Stun, Arrest Fellow Police Officer

The 24-year-old officer and St. Charles resident was charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.

ST. LOUIS, MO — A 24-year-old St. Louis County police officer, Anthony Jones, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest after fleeing a downtown traffic stop early Sunday morning. Jones lives in St. Charles and was off-duty at the time, officials said.

Police say they tried to stop Jones for unspecified traffic violations, but he sped away and struck a telephone pole. Officers resorted to stunning him with a Taser before they could take Jones into custody.

Jones has served with the department for about a year as a patrolman and has been suspended without pay, according to a department spokesperson. A judge has set his bail at $15,000.
