Teens Nab 49 Pumpkins In Midnight Joyride

Three Maryland Heights teens reenact 'Gone in 60 Seconds,' but with pumpkins.

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO — Officers received a midnight call from the Pinehurst subdivision in Maryland Heights late last week reporting a theft of Halloween decorations. Specifically, pumpkins. More calls soon came in from surrounding subdivisions.

Sgt. Jamie White responded and quickly tracked down a Subaru Forester matching the description witnesses had reported. Inside were three nervous teens and more than four dozen pumpkins.

“No idea how they all fit in there,” Maryland Heights police Capt. Scott Will told the Post-Dispatch. “It was top-to-bottom orange."

The teens were arrested and the pumpkins placed in a line-up for victims to identify. "I have attached a picture of a pumpkin line up. If you woke up this morning to missing pumpkins, please contact me," the department posted to Facebook.

So, if your pumpkin is missing, you may want to give the Maryland Heights Police Department a call. You don't have to wait 48 hours either — that's a myth.
