AMC Wants To Put A Spell On You: Hocus Pocus Returns To Theaters
You don't have to be a virgin to relight the black flame candle.
ST. LOUIS, MO — Re-live your childhood as AMC brings Hocus Pocus back to theaters for the film's 25th anniversary. Set and filmed in Salem, Massachusetts, the site of infamous real-life witch trials in the 17th Century, the movie stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters — three witches hanged on Halloween in 1693 for stealing children. Spoilers: they come back.
Though the film plays endlessly on television during the month of October, it was originally a flop, according to a Page Six interview with another of its stars, Vinessa Shaw. And though it has since achieved cult status — especially for 90s kids — most people have probably never seen it on the big screen. AMC wants to change that.
