ST. LOUIS, MO — An off-duty St. Louis police officer and a woman were shot early Sunday morning in Florissant, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 1:25 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 270 and Lindbergh Boulevard, a busy stretch of road with fast food restaurants and strip malls. According to a news release, the officer was in uniform when he and a woman were both shot in his personal car, but police do not believe being in uniform was a factor in the shooting.
Both the officer and the woman were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
