Ethical Society To Host Seminar On Regulating Children's Emotions

The event will feature school psychologist Shannon Davis.

ST. LOUIS, MO — The Ethical Society of St. Louis will hold a seminar on regulating children's emotions with school psychologist Shannon Davis at 10 a.m. on March 4 at the group's headquarters at 9001 Clayton Road in St. Louis. Davis will discuss how parents can "recognize our kids' triggers, avoid power struggles, coach kids to cope with strong, negative feelings, and work with our kids' educators to provide appropriate support."

The event will also address school protocols for deescalation and interventions related to anger and other strong emotions.

USA Today reports that confessed school shooter Nikolas Cruz, who killed 17 students and adults at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, had long dealt with anger issues, and many psychologists blame problems dealing with anger, rather than mental illness more generally, for violent outbursts like school shootings.
